This afternoon at work - the phone rang, so I answered it.
"Thank you for calling XXX Canada, this is Heather. Comment est-ce que je peux vous aider?"
"Hi, I would like some information on account number 12345"
"Absolutely! Who am I speaking to?" - I said it quite nicely as the caller seemed very friendly, I just didn't recognize his voice.
"My name is So and So."
"Aha! Sorry I didn't recognize you... I have the account open in front of me. How can I help?"
"Well, I'd like to know...." (proceeds to ask for lots of details. Also asks a few convoluted questions that I don't quite understand. At this point the line is very noisy - he's calling from a cellphone)
"Ok, well, the answer to your first question, the balance on the account is $.... Hello?" The line is silent.
I look up his phone # and call him right back, and he answers. I tell him:
"It seems we were disconnected...this is Heather calling back. You were looking for the balance on account #12345."
"Thanks, Heather, for calling me back. I'm in a bad cell area and blah blah"
"My pleasure, is there anything else I can help you with today?
"Nope, you've been a really good help and I REALLY appreciate you calling me back to make sure I got all the information. You're a doll."
"You're welcome. Have a great day!"
"Thanks Jenny".
Click.
Jenny? Not only am I not Jenny, but in my almost 7 years of employment, I don't believe we've ever had a Jenny.
Hmmm....

My Funny Valentine
February is half gone already. Something tells me that 2009 is going to zip by before I know it.
Logan and I had a very nice Valentine's day. We shared some chocolate yesterday for breakfast, and then spent the day running errands and getting ready to do absolutely nothing today and tomorrow. Tomorrow is Family Day, our newest holiday, and although I am not yet sure that stores are closed, I thought we should be prepared, just in case.
We had ribs for lunch at the Costco food counter. They're definitely worth trying. The ribs fall off the bones just as you bite into them, and the barbeque sauce is lumpy and sweet, just the was I like it! We finished our lunch in record time, and headed over to Mom and Dad's for a quick visit that lasted most of the afternoon.
On our way home we zipped in to Metro and bought a ham, and some veggies to have for supper. Logan and I made supper together, and had a nice candlelight dinner. We even used the champagne flutes for our juice. Stuff like this makes me smile because Logan is so enthusiastic about 'special' occasions. I have some pretty good memories of similar special 'dinner parties' with Mom and Grandma, myself, so as long as he's willing to do these things with me, I am more than willing to do my best to make them 'special'.
This morning we made Canadian Living: Dutch Baby Pancakes for breakfast. I think that we've both decided never to eat any other kind of pancakes again. These were light and fluffy; they only took fifteen minutes to make, too! I ate mine with lemon juice and sugar, and Logan loaded his up with strawberries, whipped cream, and syrup! DELICIOUS!
This afternoon we're going to Mom's for supper. Tonight we have a movie to watch. Tomorrow we're going to the Town Park in Aurora for the Arctic Adventure. All in all, it's really nice to have a relaxing weekend where we can just do what we want.
